Do you ever feel like you don’t belong? Like nobody understands you or sees you? I’m here to tell you that I’ve felt that way most of my life. It’s only until this last year which I was able to really see myself. To empower myself to be more than I was ever taught I could be. To accept that I had value far beyond the advice people around me were willing to shell out.
I realized that if I wanted to go further than I had ever dreamed of then I would have to stop listening to those who were watching safely on the shore. After all, without risk there is no incredible reward. I had to stop settling for what I had been given and choose something different. I took the path that was never hiked before.
Keep in mind that when you take the path that has never been trecked you have to make your own map. People will try to guide you in a different direction. They will give you advice you never asked for and they will insist that you are going the wrong way. Don’t listen and keep going. Christopher Columbus would have never found America if he had been swayed by someone to take another direction.
Sometimes you just have to tune out and listen to your own intuition. You know more than you think. We all have an intuition which attempts to signal us. I’m sure you’ve heard the expression “trust your gut.” It’s not a fabrication, it’s real and you should be listening.
We all have a spirit that seeks our meaning and purpose. We often disregard what our heart is telling us because we allow the fear to creep in. People may fill you with doubt, fear and even debate you with “reason.” It’s not that I don’t think you should listen to constructive advice. It’s just that I believe that many of us don’t follow our true passion or purpose because we let others talk us out of it.
A good example is the story of Jim Carey. He carried around a check for 10 million dollars that he wrote out to himself for 3 years. He believed in himself so much that he was able to manifest that just before that date he wrote on the check.
Do you think that people told him he was crazy? Of course they did but he didn’t give up. Do you think he had moments of self doubt when he was living out of his car? Of course he did but he persevered. You can too. It’s history and it’s been proven time and time again.
There is nothing that is impossible unless you tell yourself it is. The limits of your potential and life are set by you. You don’t have to settle for whatever you get. The world is infinitely abundant. There is more than enough for everyone. It is your mindset which holds you back. Believe you can and you will.
Of course there has to be the actions that you carry out to get results. Still, that means you are solely responsible for your own success or failure. Failure is only possible if you give up all together. How amazing is that? So if you are not where you want to be, it is actually all on you. If you are where you want to be, it is also on you.
I know it can be easy to listen to others and even our own negative self talk. It is a lot easier than believing we actually can have everything we ever wanted. All it takes is working and believing that it is possible. I mean, it goes against everything we most likely have been told.
It’s the strangest thing because most of us are told at a young age we can do anything we set our minds to (possibly by a teacher.) As we get older, for whatever reason, people start to project their own life experiences onto us. It may become that you should “be more realistic” or go for something that will “make us money.”
The truth is a lot of people have it all wrong. Their priorities are totally out of order. The emphasis is on making money instead of being happy. I mean, we can have both right? The answer is yes! Yes, you can be happy, do something meaningful AND make a good living doing it.
Those things are not mutually exclusive and I really believe that those false beliefs need to be stomped out. It’s helping no one and perpetuating a society which values money over wellbeing. Health is more than nutrition, fitness or even stress. Health (to me) is an overall sense of wellbeing. Leading a life of purpose and wholeness.
Being more than another statistic and actually pursuing something more than a paycheck can provide. I hope I can help open your eyes to the truth of this. We all grow up in different varying dysfunctions.
Some of us are lucky enough to have a family which loves and encourages us to grow. Some of us are not so lucky. If you are a part of the latter, know that I see you. I see all that you do to get acknowledged and I feel your pain of rejection.
The truth of the matter is that pain will never go away. It’s human nature to want to be loved and acknowledged. We want to be validated and made to feel important. You may never get that from the people you want it most from but the good news is that you can do that for yourself. In time, with real effort and awareness, you can give that love and validation to yourself.
You will realize that at the end of the day the only person you can truly count on is yourself. Once you can accept that you’d be surprised how happy you can be. You no longer care or feel the need to get validation from others. You will have such a confidence that you quite literally may scare or shock others.
With that you will inevitably attract negative people but it won’t matter. When you know who you are, other people’s opinions will no longer matter. It’s a process and a messy one at that. I believe you can do it. Now it’s your job to believe in yourself.
