Being in the health industry and specifically a weight loss expert, I am hyper aware of the marketing strategies that exist online. I see a lot of sleazy sales tactics and fear-mongering which is disappointing for those of us who actually want to help people reach goals. It is dressed up propaganda for the purpose of sales. Don't get me wrong, we all have to make a living. I just wonder whether those sales will bring real value and service to the consumer. I approach my business very differently.
When I am offering my services as a health coach my approach is to look at exactly what value I can bring to a potential client. How exactly will my skills contribute to that individuals weight loss goals and quality of life? As a coach, I truly believe that is the most important question. I am not here to be all holler than thou but I would never take on a client who I didn't believe I could help. There is such a greater reward in actually changing someones life than making a quick buck.
You may be reading this and wondering what this has to do with weight loss? In my opinion it has everything to do with weight loss. How we do one thing is how we do everything. If you aren't willing to invest the time, energy and work ethic to lose weight don't expect a return of achieving your goals.
You get what you put in. If you are buying into every fad diet and weight loss pill on the market you will get the results that you invested into. This is not just about investing money either. Time, energy and hard work are the real investments that will determine what results you get. Time actually is more valuable than money in my point of view. You can always make more money but time you can never get back.
We all only have so much time here on earth. It is time to make it count. The only time you are guaranteed is the moment you are in right now. Even as you read this time is passing you by. It becomes a question of whether you choose to wait for the perfect time or make this moment in time perfect for you. I always hear the excuse that "I don't have the time." It is simply not true.
We make time for what is important to us. It is a choice and you are making it. If you are happy with where your currently are then this doesn't apply to you. If you are not happy with where you are then now is the time to change it. My greatest piece of advice is to find a reason greater than six pack abs to keep you on track. If you have children this can be a powerful reason to push towards your goals.
It is important to have a reason on the days when you just don't want to stick to your plan. When you feel unmotivated, remember why you started. Think about how much more energy you will have to play with your kids. Think about how much better you will feel and the very real likelihood that you will live a much longer, healthier life. As a parent we all want to be able to be there for those epic moments in our children's lives.
Break it down and see where you could potentially improve. It is all about prioritizing what is most important to you. If you have weight loss goals then you have to put your nutrition and movement at the top of your to-do list. It can no longer be a secondary thought. The time is now. Make a choice to change or choose to stay exactly where you are.
