Are you a procrastinator? Are you a “I will do it later” person? Fast forward five years (or so it feels) and your list of tasks is gaining momentum. Unlike you, and all you want to do is to post up in your cozy blankets and hide from all the mounting responsibilities. You are overwhelmed by everything you have to do but have no will power to do it. If that sounds like you, take a breath. Breathe deeply and count to ten. I don’t want you stressing out because that will only make things worse.


Trust me on this. Worrying about something is only asking the universe to bring more of it to you. We manifest things into our lives whether they are good or bad. We actually are receiving what we have been asking for in life. So the good news is that you can start asking for what you do want. Ask enough, take intentional actions and believe and you will be living the life of your dreams in no time. We all go through seasons in life where we get behind. It happens to the best of us and it can be fixed.

Everything is okay and you are not a bad person. I have been there and I understand the feelings that come with it. Sometimes the anxiety of having to do something can be so debilitating that it can feel impossible. Somedays, just to wake up in the morning can be enough. Don’t get down on yourself. Do your best and do a little more everyday. Know that you are not alone. I get it. I understand you, more than you’ll ever know. Since I do know you, I also know that your to-do list is not the only problem here.

How you do one thing is how you do everything. Habits overflow into all areas of life. That being said let's get a jump on this before the tasks start mating and we have a heap of offspring on our hands. Here are 5 ways to stop procrastinating and start working towards the life that you want. Let’s get it done!

1.) Write everything down. If you have read my blog this may seem redundant but this is worth repeating again, and again. It actually may be the most important habit I have taken on. The first thing you need to do is to make a list. Make a list of all the things you need to get done. Take a break if you need but get every last task on that list. If you have 20 different lists or journals then you need to combine them all into one.

2.) Prioritize! Once you get your list down now is time to organize it. Organize your list by importance. Prioritize the things that need to be done like yesterday! What are the pressing tasks? Don’t forget to breathe! You got this. Your mind needs to be able to organize your thoughts and having everything in one spot is essential. I don’t care if the list is a 1000 items long. It is okay and you can get it done.

3.) Challenge negative thoughts. Instead of saying “I will never get this all done” say “ I will get one thing done every day until I complete it.” Change the conversation with yourself. Adopt a positive way of approaching the tasks and challenges at hand. Look at it as something you need to resolve instead of focusing on the problem or how difficult it seems.

4.) Let go of self defeating beliefs. Let go of the voice inside your head telling you that you will never make it. Who let that voice in, anyways? You will get it done when you set your mind to it and take action. Believing the lies you tell yourself about how you are not good enough is holding you back.

Holding you back from being the person that you are meant to be. I know, I know, easier said than done. I had anxiety my entire life until recently. It took me years to master letting go, releasing self doubt, fear and accepting things as they are. Just know that you can do that too. It will take some practice but it is possible.

4.) Take it one step at a time. Humans are interesting. We build things up in our minds so big sometimes. The reality is most of the things we worry about or stress about doing are not a big deal. Everything together can be overwhelming for our minds to process.

My advice to you is to break tasks (especially larger ones) up into smaller tasks. For example, if you are writing a book, you don’t plan to write the entire thing at once. So why would you expect to tackle everything you need to do at once? Break it up like the chapters in a book. It will become much more manageable.

5.) Visualize. This may seem strange but it works! Imagine yourself completing the tasks and feeling the emotions that come along with that. Envision yourself being the person that does what they intend to do. What does it look like? How do you feel? It is a proven method adopted by some of the greatest and most successful innovators and business legends in history.

This is something that took me nearly three decades to learn. Be patience with yourself. If your thoughts become critical or negative take a break. Make a tea, do some breathing, read a book or go for a walk. Clear your head and start again. Step by step. If you cannot imagine doing something you will most likely not do it. It is a great place to start.


Let me ask you this - what could you accomplish if there was no limits? What would you achieve if nothing could stop you? Shocking fact is that YOU are actually the only thing stopping you. You are the only thing holding yourself back. You can be, have and live the life of your dreams.

Think about that for a second. Imagine the possibilities and dare to dream BIG! What do you want? What do you ACTUALLY want? Not what you think others want for you. Not what you feel you should want but what you truly , deeply and passionately want.

Who do you want to be? You are the only person standing in your way. Get honest with yourself and write those dreams down. You may be able to fool others but you cannot fool yourself. What kind of life do you want to live? Don't wait to do it, life is passing you by. Go out there and be that person. Live your ONLY life.
